I was like, why did panic break up, and Jon was like why do you think, and I told him about how on twitter he said it was forced, and so I was like BUT HOW? So: Jon and Ryan wrote new songs, and these songs that they're singing now were supposed to be on the third album, but Brendon and Spencer didn't like it, so that's why they were forced to disband, bc obviously B + S didn't like the new music. So, Jon said he knew they were breaking up, but he thought that it was going to become two different bands, not that Brendon and Spencer would stay as Panic! and use their songs. Jon was talking about how Ryan wrote the whole first album, and Jon and Ryan basically wrote the second, except for the songs that Brendon wrote and Spencer and w/e
Jon said that Brendon and Spencer lied about them still being friends and talking to them, because they definitely weren't friends, and other than the tweets, there was no other contact, and they weren't on good terms, and Jon said that he knew it made Jon and Ryan look like assholes, and they should've been more upfront about it. I was asking why they couldn't have told people, and he was like, well, what can we do now? And, he was like, well, I hope the music will speak for themselves, and that Brendon and Spencer's third album will also speak for how well their doing.
He also did say that he did miss Brendon and Spencer, and the songs they played. I'm not sure I'm forgetting anything, but that's basically it.

Hm, the first part I kinda figure, because that's basically what they all said in the interviews. But the not talking part and thinking they would be two different bands... it makes me sadface. But it also makes me wonder if Brendon and Spencer know about this or if they are all just being typically 23 and thinking everyone around them should be reading their minds.
It's... weird, but also weirdly elaborate and it's Aplit 1st so I'm kinda fishy about everything today. I'm just calling bullshit on everything I hear until Ryan whispers it in my ear, fuck all of this :P :D

On the other hand I do believe there were misunderstandings, but I find it hard to believe the label (and Pete) would let them go without sitting them down at least once and having them talk it over. This band wasn't an independent-of-the-universe entity. But then, I don't really know how these things work.
yeah they did say that. and yeah i think so too. ryan kept saying he was still under contract so they had to have had a talk at some point. and jon kept saying that he wasn't on contract so technically, if he really was complaining, he has no actual reason to complain.
XD yep. i personally think they're al still confused about the whole thing. i wouldn't say they're still close and i wouldn't say the hate each other, it's probably still a gray area where they all didn't really see it coming and feelings were a little hurt and it's gonna take a while to settle in.

two things that just popped into my head while i was talking to maureen: 1.i don't think he can fault bren and spence for keping the name and the music because that's their job, what they make money off. he can say whatever he wants, but if the roles were reversed, he'd have done the same thing. i also think this is why it's taking spencer and brendon so long to bring out their stuff, they wanna make it their own and for it to be good, so that people can't keep saying they're still using ryan and jon's stuff 2. i don't get how jon could be hurt that bren and spencer are still playing their music. since, you know, they had a tour they were obligated to do and they didn't exactly have time to write new stuff. and they havent played any shows in ages.

This is all true. And if it took Ryan that much to get out of the contract, it couldn't have been a surprise that Brendon and Spencer stayed and kept the name.
